what is Internship?

The position of a student or trainee who works in an organization, sometimes without pay, in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification.

My Goals for this internship is:

1. A chance to separate myself from the pack Look at my next internship as an opportunity to distance myself from my peers. Imagine the next career fair i attend and imagine what i would like to share with the recruiter in front of me about how i spent my summer (or fall or spring) semester. Think about the experience and the skill set i will gain that will build my professional brand.

2. An opportunity to figure out what kind of career i want One of the key parts of an internship is getting to experience a specific role or industry so that i can decide whether it’s something i want to pursue after graduation. When picking an internship, I look for one that offers me a truly hands-on experience. This will allow me to make well-informed decisions down the line and find the career path that works best for me.

3. A chance to work with smart and motivated people If i can thrive off the energy of others around me, i’ll naturally work harder and enjoy what am doing. By finding an internship at a company where employees are excited to come to work every day, i’ll naturally have a more enjoyable experience and will be more likely to choose a similarly positive work culture in the next phase of my career.

4. Access to mentors i can learn from As i navigate what am looking to do professionally, it’s important to have mentors that i can rely on who will help me navigate the work environment i choose. Look for opportunities that have a built-in support system for interns to access higher level executives. Not only will this increase the exposure i get within the organization, but i will learn from people who have been working in the business or the industry with an expert-level understanding.

5. The chance to experience a new city If you have the option, leverage my internship experience as a chance to explore a new city! This will help pull me out of your comfort zone of being on campus or at home for the summer.

6. The opportunity to add new tools to my toolbox Sharpening what am learning in my classes and actually applying it is key. However, try to pick up other skills that my professors aren’t necessarily teaching me. Identify programs or tools that are relevant in my industry and become an expert at them. Not only will i make myself more marketable after the internship, i’ll set myself apart as the “fast-learner” who is looking to add value fast!

7. A way to test what i have learned Validate my interest in the industry i’ve chosen by test driving what i’ve learned. Ask myself if this is something i could see myself doing for the long-haul and take the opportunity to explore different paths within my chosen profession. Internships are a great opportunity to get exposure to a potential career path without having to choose it for the long-run.

8. A chance to identify with a culture that reflects my values Find an internship that offers an environment that aligns with what matters most to me in a workplace. If am looking for summer Fridays (i.e. leaving the office on Friday at 2 p.m.), or am looking to work 100 hours per week, understand what the company values and what’s expected for the business.

9. An opportunity to work on projects that matters One key goal coming out of my internship should be the ability to say how i will be able to make an impact. Having the opportunity to work on real-world projects is key, and a killer thing to tout in my next interview. Understand the types of projects that interns have worked on in the past and what i might expect to work on during my time in the program. i can also gauge what kind of opportunity i’ll have to work on other side projects. Go into the internship with the goal of making the greatest impact i can make.

10. A way to earn an income Although money shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when it comes to picking an internship, it’s definitely something to keep in mind, particularly if i need an income to support myself during the school year or the summer.

Getting work experience before graduation is certainly important, but i want to make sure that the internship i choose will benefit me in more ways than one. By following these tips, i’ll find an internship that’s right for me.

What i plan on achieving at the end of the internship:

1. New/improved skills

One of the most important things I can take away from an internship is my newfound knowledge, which includes knowing how to fulfill tasks relevant to my desired career path. Not only that, but I should have also spent time sharpening and honing the skills I already possessed.

2. A more complete (and impressive) résumé

It's pretty obvious, but one of the best things about completing an internship is being able to add it to my résumé.

Don't just include the job title, company name, and all the responsibilities I had — also highlight my contributions to the company and how I added value.

3. Recommendations

If i did a superb job and made a favorable impression on my manager and colleagues, i'll have no trouble coming up with references for future jobs i apply to. Just be sure to politely ask my boss or any coworkers who i made a great impression on if they'd be willing to recommend me for a job down the road. And then once that time comes, reach out to them again to get their permission.

4. New connections

In addition to those people who i hope will act as references in the future, i should walk away from an internship with a handful of new connections: senior employees, clients, fellow interns, etc.

These people can provide guidance and advice, help me in future job searches, and may even become friends. But it's up to me to stay in touch with these connections, keep them in the loop on where i am are in my career, and offer to help them whenever i can.

5. A greater sense of professionalism

Working in an office environment (or any kind of professional setting) can be difficult to get used to — and the best (perhaps only) way to learn how to navigate the working world is through real life, hands-on experience. After my internship, i should have a better idea of the appropriate way to behave as a professional and a sense of how to play the game of office politics.

6. More confidence in your career direction

"An internship is an opportunity to test out a career field of interest," Strausser says. By the end of it, i should have a clearer idea of whether or not i really do want to enter that field or pursue that occupation.

Realizing that it's actually not the right job for me isn't as terrible as it seems. Think about it: It's better to learn that i'd be unhappy sooner rather than later. Plus, if i come to this conclusion, i can spend the next few months exploring other areas of interest and jobs that might be a good fit, then i can begin working on securing an internship in that industry.

How to Create a Multiple Desktops for MAC:

• Press the 'F3' key on your keyboard, or use the 'Control + Up' shortcut.

• Select the 'Mission Control' icon in your Mac's Dock (where available).

• Swipe upwards on your trackpad with three or four fingers.

The main Mission Control window displays all your open tabs, applications and windows, but towards the top of the screen you’ll also find all your desktops. By default, macOS has a single desktop, which appears as a thumbnail in the Mission Control toolbar.

You can create additional desktops, by clicking the ‘+’ icon (where the cursor is positioned in the following screenshot).

Once you’ve created at least two desktops, you can switch between these desktops by selecting the corresponding thumbnail in the Mission Control toolbar. To switch back to your original desktop, simply launch Mission Control and then select ‘Desktop 1’ from the toolbar.

You can create as many desktops as you want by clicking the ‘+’ icon, for example you may want to create a desktop for work and a desktop for all those distractions that keep you away from work; or desktops dedicated to specific tasks such as a desktop for making notes and a desktop for working on your first draft.

Moving applications between desktops Once you’ve created two or more desktops, you can launch applications in each desktop independently, for example if you switch to Desktop 2 and then launch Pages, then the Pages app will appear in Desktop 2 only.

You can also relocate applications that are already open, which is particularly useful if your original desktop has got out of control. For example, if you wanted to move an app from Desktop 1 to Desktop 2, then you’d need to:

• Make sure you’re currently viewing Desktop 1.

• Launch Mission Control.

• Find the application you want to relocate, and drag it onto the Desktop 2 icon.

How to add a desktop in Windows 10

To add a virtual desktop, open up the new Task View pane by clicking the Task View button (two overlapping rectangles) on the taskbar, or by pressing the Windows Key + Tab. In the Task View pane, click New desktop to add a virtual desktop. If you have two or more desktops already open, the "Add a desktop" button will appear as a gray tile with a plus symbol. You can also quickly add a desktop without entering the Task View pane by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Ctrl + D.

How to switch between desktops

To switch between virtual desktops, open the Task View pane and click on the desktop you want to switch to. You can also quickly switch desktops without going into the Task View pane by using the keyboard shortcuts Windows Key + Ctrl + Left Arrow and Windows Key + Ctrl + Right Arrow.

You can add an unlimited number of virtual desktops -- we stopped at 368.

Move windows between desktops

To move a window from one desktop to another, you first have to open up the Task View pane and then hover over the desktop containing the window you want to move. The windows on that desktop will pop up; find the window you want to move, right-click it, and go to Move to and choose the desktop you want to move the window to. You can also drag and drop windows -- grab the window you want to move and drag it into the desired desktop.

Close a desktop

To close a virtual desktop, open up the Task View pane and hover over the desktop you want to close until a small X appears in the upper right corner. Click the X to close the desktop. You can also close desktops without going into the Task View pane by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Ctrl + F4 (this will close the desktop you're currently on). You don't need to spend your money on MAC system anymore, your PC has what you are looking for.
